Phacoemulsification is the most modern method of cataract surgery in which the surgery is done through a very small opening of less than 3mm. The intraocular lens implanted is of the foldable type.The surgery is is stitchless and is a day care procedure. Hence the patient can go home on the same day after surgery. Moreover the patient can resume normal activities after about 5 days. The visual recovery is faster and the necessity for spectacles is also much less.
